Oral Conscious Sedation

Typically recommended for patients with moderate anxiety at the thought of undergoing dental treatment, oral conscious sedation comes in the form of a pill. We’ll direct you to take this pill about one hour before your procedure is scheduled to start. By the time it kicks in, you’ll feel so deeply relaxed (yet awake) that you probably won’t remember much of your procedure later on. Plan to have someone you trust drive you home since the pill’s effects take several hours to wear off.

Nitrous Oxide Sedation

Nitrous oxide is well-suited for slightly nervous patients who need a bit of help feeling comfortable. We provide this sedative, which is also called “laughing gas,” via a little mask that we place over your nose. Almost immediately after you start breathing it in, you’ll feel relaxing waves wash over you, making your procedure breeze right on by. Afterward, you should be able to drive yourself home; the effects will wear off quickly once you begin breathing normal air again.


